He who sits in the heavens shall laugh… PSALM 2:4 NKJV
God’s response to opposition is derision and laughter. This is because He knows that nothing on earth can defeat Him or thwart His purpose. There is no device or plan of man and no satanically-engineered circumstance that God cannot deliver us from.
We might say that this is all well and good for the Lord but we are on earth having to deal with the problem.
Such reasoning is actually our real problem, even more than the issue we are having to deal with.
The reason is that we are supposed to align ourselves with God and HIS perspective, not our earth-based one. We are supposed to live above circumstamces. This is what Kelley Varner labelled “The Ascended Life” in his excellent book Sectrets of the Ascended Life. Get it if you can.
If you approach any challenge or problem from God’s perspective, you can laugh at it and deride it. Faith gives you this perspective. If you see yourself as you really are then no obstacle or trial can upset your peace.
Consider these two scripture passages:
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. EPHESIANS 2:4-6 NKJV
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 JOHN 4:16-18 KJV
Note in the Ephesians passage that we share God’s perspective on things because of our POSITION. We are seated in Christ and with Christ at God’s right hand in the heavenlies. Those who know the etiquette of royal courts know that when the King laughs, everybody laughs! When God laughs at our enemies it is actually quite insolent to whine about the opposition we might be encountering.
We see that our position in and with Christ in heavenly places is granted “because of His GREAT LOVE with which He loved us.”
The passage in 1 John says we have known and believed His love and that we live in Him as He is love. So if we are living in love and believing this great love, then the result is that we are positioned to see things from His perspective.
This love is perfected in us by our understanding that as He is in heaven, so are we in this world. In other words, we share His heavenly perspective even though we physically reside here on earth. We have a view that is ABOVE the problem and ABOVE the enemy. This view comes from a position of love and this love cocoons and innoculates us from the problem.
Fear is the force that would pull us from this heavenly perspective into one where all we see is the problem and not the heaven-sent solution to it.
To slip into a fear state is to fall from our Ascended Life perspective and get bogged down in the problem. We don’t actually lose our heavenly position when we get into fear, just the perspective it affords us.
What Jesus calls seeking the Kingdom is simply walking in this Ascended Life perspective. This is one where you can actually laugh at the things satan throws at you to get you to lose your peace.
The Master said that in this world we would have troubles. However, He said we can be of good cheer for He has overcome the world. The place where this overcoming can be experienced is the Kingdom.
There is a place of good cheer where you can laugh at your enemies and deride that which opposes you.
It is the place of rest for the believer, the place where His Kingdom invades the natural realm. It is not hid from you but for you.
This place is within you.
For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you. LUKE 17:21 NKJV
The place where you can laugh at your foes is not only in the heavens above but in you!!
It’s time we understood that the God we serve is a laughing God, not a morose one. Maybe the reason we often feel the Lord is far from us is because we are walking about in misery while He is laughing His head off!
And here’s the big secret – God is not going to join you in your pity party but He extends an open invitation for you to join Him in His laughing party.
