Jesus said “I must be about my Father’s business.”

Am interesting phrase. What it tells us is that God isn’t “in the ministry” as such. He is in business.

This means He takes things seriously. What business is He in, then?

The answer is very simple: God is in the business of blessing you!

Now God doesn’t sleep and He doesn’t have a job but if He did we could say that God’s job is blessing us and when He gets up in the morning His first thought is how can He bless us?

We are the focus of God. You could actually say we are His obsession. Everything He does is for our benefit.

… that the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance among the saints,  and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power,  which He performed in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principalities, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.  And He put all things in subjection under His feet and made Him the head over all things for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all things in all ways. EPHESIANS 1:18-23 MEV

Notice that God didn’t make Jesus the Head over ALL things for Himself. He did it for the Church, the community of the redeemed.

In other words, He did it for you and me.

To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the incomprehensible riches of Christ, and to reveal for all people what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ, so that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He completed in Christ Jesus our Lord… EPHESIANS 3:8-11 MEV

The deep, secret things – the mysteries of God – are to be known BY us and revealed TO principalities and powers in heavenly places. We are stewards of the mystery i.e. the secret, hidden counsels and knowledge of God. Maybe this explains why humans are at present only using 10% of our mental capacity. An upgrade in intelligence and wisdom is coming and it is only available to people with a regenerated spirit. Natural men are incapable of receiving the download due to limited capacity. They have a virus called sin in their hard drive.

According to Colossians chapter 1, this mystery of God is encapsulated in the phrase “Christ in you.” This is the “hope of glory” i.e. the expectation of glory or the deposit of glory. This speaks of the mystery of the multi-locational Presence of Christ i.e Christ is in heaven but He is also in His Church, both individually and corporately. The same Christ who rules and regulates the cosmos is inside of each one of us!

He is not in us to be separate from us but to be us i.e. to live HIS Life in us and through us as us. This is why we are members of His Body, of His flesh and of His bones.

Imagine if this Christ in you truth became so widespread that it resulted in Christians being a master race whose wisdom dwarfed even the brightest scientific minds! And yet these super beings were so benevolent, so saturated in love and others-oriented that their superior intellect and godlike abilities could never be deemed a threat or something sinister in any way. You are looking at what God has for His Church in the coming years – a people walking unfettered in the powers of the age to come.

The same old, same old is not what God has for us. He is in the business of advancing us and this means making us like Him.

Your business is to cooperate fully with Him in this.

Like The Master, you and I must be about our Father’s business. And this business can be summed up like this:-

In this way God’s love is perfected in us, so that we may have boldness on the Day of Judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world. 1 JOHN 4:17 MEV

Acknowledging who we really are in Him – and who He is in us – is the most urgent and pressing business we can be involved with.
